An idea for a song

Western Dity

As the title suggests I have had an idea for a song. The inspiration of which was drawn from various sources. I wanted to write a genuine blues song that told the story of man obviously down on his luck. Played in the same vein as Robert Johnson. Then the story developed influenced by a popular video game that friends had been saying over and over I should play. Red Dead Redemption. As per usual I missed the trend when it was first released, so once I had started playing everyone else had stopped. I was blown away by the soundtrack and soundscape of the game more so then the visuals and the sounds inspired my mind and I soon stopped playing and started to create. I asked my self what would you do if you were hunted by wolves? How would you survive? Would you survive? Why did you end up there? How can I recreate the openness and loneliness of the desert? and so my ideas for a new story began. As of now I will only let you in on the possible names for the song. Desert wind, Painted Red or Crescent Moon.

A picture to inspire you

I didn't take the pic, but I did drag and drop it to my Wallpaper folder, select it at random from the folder then upload it. The picture was taken from a collection on Abduzeedo

Try to analyse something like this to get your mind in gear. It may seem strange but it will give you a better perspective on what you are feeling when you look at this pic. Its not an assessment, your not trying to get a grade. There are no right or wrong answers as long as its a personal experience. You don't have to gain anything from it... but you might.

My analysis, The picture is cold and sparce yet there is warmth in the undergrowth that makes it feel grounded. Ask yourself questions. Is it a path or is it a divide? Have the trees chosen sides with one side being more popular? What if it were actually an algae covered stream with trees on either side of the bank? What life makes its home in this picture? Where would this path or stream lead you to?

Most importantly try to be original, it wont be worth the analysis if you relate it someone else's work then its no longer your interpretation of the photo.

Perhaps I'm just rambling.

Inspiration: Getting through boredom and a lull in creative juices

Inspiration

This post is the first of many dedicated to inspiration. So where do I draw my inspiration from?

As a creative person I have found that sometimes I am passionate about story telling and have plenty of ideas that seem to be drawn effortlessly from my imagination. I feel driven and motivated to put my stories together and make something of them. Than sadly, there are the times when I feel flat and uninspired, worst of all my internal critic is busy at work belittling all that iv done.

Realisation is the key. If you are reading this and can relate to what I have written then you may be in need of some therapeutic self help. Whether or not this little blog post will be of benefit, I do not know. However I can tell you now, I have found ways of breaking through the figurate wall of oppressive thoughts and boringness, finding new ideas and rekindling my passion for story telling.

Pictures! Cute, funny, romantic and amazing. It is good to have a collection of pics, found easily throughout the cybernetic interweave of computers commonly referred to as the Internet. Save the memes that amuse or interest you for another day. Pictures are good because they can only keep your attention for a limited amount of time and more importantly it is easy to get distracted by your own ideas. Warning! Moving pictures lead to more moving pictures and soon you will find yourself in a zombified state, 3 hours later wondering. 'where did the time go' (spoken staggered with a whistle between your teeth). This applies to movies, video games and video clips. However family movies can still be watched cause they are usually boring and may drive you to get up and do something else.
Do you want amazing pictures to look through? my homepage is Abduzeedo check it out and be inspired. Make a computer wallpaper or screensaver with a vast selection of changing pictures, you'll get a hit of awe or inspiration when you least expect it and a reminder when you zone out after looking at the computer screen...                                                                                                               for ages.

There will be more. Stayed tuned.

The First Story

The Fox & The Quill, is a tale written by me. It draws influences from fables and fairy tales. The following is an excerpt taken from the story:

There were once two elegant swans. One a black swan of light and the other a white swan of night; they were in love and they were together. As a token of the love shared between them, the black swan plucked from his wing a single quill. As the feather was caught up by the wind a shining ball of flames rose into the sky and lit the entire land; the white swan was flattered. They flew together for a lifetime but soon the two swans grew tired, yet the shining sun still blared down upon them. So the white swan to plucked a single quill from her wing and flew high above the world. The feather fell towards the ground and as it did, the sun set in its place rose a gleaming orb; it was the moon. The two swans found themselves a place to rest and then they slept for a lifetime. Once again the sun rose and so the swans took to the sky. The land began to flourish, as they flew and slept and flew and slept for an eternity, till one frightful day. The black swan looked into the bright light of the sun and decided that he would bring back some of the fire as a gift for his love and so was his folly. Effortlessly the deep fires of the sun engulfed the black swan and he was no more. The white swan searched for many seasons, but to no avail she could not find her love he was gone. Her heart grew cold and with it so did the lands. She wept and snow began to fall forevermore. Time pressed on. High in her nest the white swan could see a stag and a doe walking together in love, two rabbits bouncing happily in the fluffy snow, a family of owls perched upon the branches of their home tree and even beneath a sheet of ice that was the surface of a pond, two fish circled and their lips met. She grew hateful and rose up with her wings stretched far across the sky, she pulled out another single quill and tore it into nothing. A shrill cry was heard throughout the world. The sun fell and never rose again and with that the white swan flew to the worlds edge and floated alone in the now still waters of life.

This is the in story fable that sets the tone for the rest of the narrative. Let me know what you think.
